About me
I am a priest in the Church of England, working in the Diocese of London. I am also a practising barrister, a human rights advocate, frequent traveller, photographer and an eternal student. Below are some brief biographical details about me for those interested.
I was ordained a priest in 2022. Currently I serve as Associate Priest at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, in West London. St Paul’s is a beautiful Victorian-era church founded to give expression to the faith and vision of the Oxford Movement, which sought to restore Catholic life within the Church of England. We are a vibrant and diverse community, and we pride ourselves on our liturgy, preaching, church music, and our welcome to all.
In addition to my parish work, I am a Duty Priest at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, where I regularly undertake pastoral and sacramental duties for those visiting and worshipping at the Cathedral.
I read for my undergraduate degree in Theology (2018-20) and then obtained a masters degree (MSt) in Philosophical Theology (2021) at the University of Oxford. I also worked as Assistant Chaplain at Magdalen College, Oxford in 2020-2021, and then served my curacy at St Cuthbert’s Church, Philbeach Gardens, in Earl’s Court, London.
My main theological interests are apophaticism; contemporary readings of Aquinas; theology and evolution; Christian humanism; faith and science; and engagement between contemporary agnosticism and Christianity (which was the subject of my Masters thesis).
I have also worked as a barrister since 2008. Currently I am a tenant at Old Square Chambers, London, where I practise in employment and discrimination law, administrative law, military law and human rights. I regularly act for individuals seeking justice from the legal system. Between 2013-2023, I was appointed to HM Attorney General’s Panel of Counsel to the Crown (Civil), during which I acted for numerous government ministries including the Cabinet Office, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office. In 2010 I worked as an avocat stagiaire at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, within the British Division of the Court. You can read more about my legal work and recent cases I have been involved in HERE.
My diocese permits me to continue my civil career as a barrister while also serving as a priest. This means that I divide my time each week between the church world of the parish I work in, and the non-churchy world of ordinary people and organisations, seeking to resolve their legal problems. I believe that my profession as a barrister, in which I engage with the world to seek solutions and justice for people, is as much part of my vocation in life as my priestly vocation.
I am a member and supporter of a number of charities and community organisations, including:
Sion College;
The Anglican-Lutheran Society;
La Fondation Teilhard;
Amnesty International; and
Liberty.
